12. Claim and Optimize Your Google Business Profile

This Week's Practice: Claim and Optimize Your Google Business Profile

Welcome to this week’s edition of The 15-Minute Practice — a short, powerful tip to help you grow your private practice with clarity, one simple step at a time.

Your 15-Minute Action This Week

Claim and optimize your Google Business Profile.

What You'll Get

In 15 minutes, you’ll give Google and potential clients a clearer, more professional picture of your practice. This can boost your visibility in local search results — especially for those “therapist near me” searches.

1. If you haven’t claimed your profile yet, go to https://google.com/business and follow the steps to verify your practice.

2. Add or update your business hours, phone number, website, and address (if you see clients in person).

3. Choose the most accurate category for your services — “psychotherapist” or “mental health service” are common for private practice.

Bonus: Upload a professional headshot or a welcoming office photo.

This Step's Purpose

Google Business Profiles are one of the strongest ranking factors for local search. Keeping yours accurate and complete helps potential clients find and trust you — especially if they’re nearby and ready to book.

Try It Today

Set a timer, log into your profile, and make one update. It’s a small step with a big return.

And if it sparks an idea or a question, just hit reply to this email. I’d love to hear what you find.
